Singapore has placed itself as an aviation hub in Asia and as an important gate for LCC activities. Changi Airport has played an important role to such success, by building terminals which favour the LCC concept. However, these innovative carriers pose on their own challenges to the aviation industry and had to learn to face legal regimes and regulators which are not necessarily used to their practice. With this in mind, this session intends to explore the development of low cost carriers in different jurisdictions of the globe, the concerns raised to the traditional aviation industry and the reaction of law and the industry to their growth.
